The Whole-School Approach to Helping Children with Emotional Behaviour Disorder

Talk by Dr. Kimberly Kircher, BCBA-D

School districts and research evaluators are increasingly utilizing the principles of applied behavior analysis in the form of School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports in an effort to design and create positive school culture that occasions and maintains the emission of expected and socially significant target behaviors from students and staff. With the intention of manifesting proactive school-wide disciplinary procedures and extending the unit of analysis , the school-wide evaluations tool (SET) serves as a research validated instrument that can assess the critical features necessary to engineer such enhanced and evolved learning environments. SET provides larger educational systems and practitioners with data based, analytical, and decision making tools that have been proven effective in creating positive changes at the micro and macro levels.
